How HUMN NEWS works, from a story's verdict to the season you play. For the short version, see the leaderboard. For how we report, see our standards.

Overview

HUMN NEWS is a newsroom that covers AI and what it does to people. Every story is sourced, and every story ends with a verdict: humanity won this one, or humanity lost it.

Next to the newsroom runs a game in seasons. Each season is one week with its own game, and the humans who play it are ranked on the leaderboard. $HUMN is the ticket to play.

The one rule to remember: points pay for what you do. Holding $HUMN gets you in, and holding more makes your actions count for more, but holding alone scores nothing.

The newsroom

Every story has the same parts, in the same order:

What they saidOne quote, word for word, with who said it, when, and a link to where they said it.
What happenedThe facts, each one credited to the outlet or document it comes from.
The receiptsEvery source, linked. If a fact can't be linked, it isn't in the story.
The verdictThe desk's call: humanity won this one, or lost it.
The case againstThe strongest on-record argument against the verdict, quoted and linked. The desk doesn't reply to it.

We correct mistakes in public. The full rules for sourcing and corrections are in our standards.

The humanity score

The humanity score reads the state of the world through the news, on a scale of 0 to 100. Every story we publish adds a reading: humanity won this one, or lost it. The score moves each time a verdict lands.

The score falls in one of five zones:

  • Flatline0–19
  • Critical20–39
  • Contested40–59
  • Holding60–79
  • Intact80–100

The live reading is on the leaderboard. Each verdict is the desk's call, and the case against it sits right under it on the story.

Seasons

A season runs for one week and ends on a fixed date. When it ends, the board freezes and the results are final. A rest week follows, and the next season opens with a new game and every score back at zero. Past boards stay on the site as the record.

Season 01: Spread the news

Season 01 ranks the humans who spread HUMN NEWS on X.

OpensMonday 19 October, 00:00.
Board updatesEvery day at 21:00. A post you count yourself shows up straight away.
ClosesMonday 26 October, 23:59. The board freezes and the top 10 and top 100 are final.

  • Signing is a free message, not a transaction. We only read your X account and never post from it.

What scores

  • Spreading the record from the X account on your profile: quoting, replying to and reposting our posts, and linking humn.news. The engagement your posts get counts too.
  • A humn.news agent reads what you post about $HUMN and scores its sentiment. Decisions by the humans on the desk affect your score too. The rest you find out during the game.
  • Your first point: post about one of our stories on X, then paste the link under Count a post on the leaderboard. It counts straight away. Everything else is counted at 21:00.
  • Point values aren't published, and they change from one season to the next.

Test 01

Test 01 runs inside Season 01. It has five stages, and the clues are all around you, in our posts and on the site. Answer by DM to @HumnNews. Solved stages add to your season total, and there's a secret prize.

Rewards

The top 10 and the top 100 on the final board take rewards. If two players tie, the one who reached the total first ranks higher.

Season 02: Predict humanity's future

Season 02 turns the newsroom into a forecast. Each market asks a question about where humanity is heading, drawn from the stories we cover: AI and jobs, surveillance, the companies building AI, and how people push back.

The questionsEach market asks one yes-or-no question with a fixed deadline, such as whether an AI lab discloses another incident by a set date.
The sourceA market that mirrors a question on Kalshi or Polymarket settles on that platform's published result. Every other market names its public source before it opens: a report or an official count.
Our marketsMarkets we run ourselves sit in an on-chain contract as yes or no. Each one comes with a clear ruling, published when Season 02 launches.
ResolutionAt the deadline, we read the named source and settle the market on what it says. The desk's verdicts don't settle markets.
ClosesMonday 9 November, 23:59.

If the named source doesn't publish, or its answer is unclear, the market is voided. The full rules for Season 02 are posted here before it opens.

Season 03

Locked. Season 03 runs 16 to 23 November.

We reveal the game when Season 02 closes.

$HUMN is the ticket to play. It isn't an investment, and we promise nothing about its price. We post the contract address on the leaderboard and on @HumnNews at launch. Check it there before you buy anything.

If something breaks

  • If something outside our control breaks a season, we may pause, extend or change it, and we'll say so on @HumnNews.
  • Our count is final. We remove bots and bought engagement from the board.
  • Everything here sits under our terms. Questions go to @HumnNews by DM.
